Farmington? God, why the hell would you want to go to Farmington? That place sucks bass balls! The only place to catch rock and roll in its most pure form is at the The Tuna Net in Fisherdale, which is about five miles outside of West Hoover. You can catch bands like Perry Shepherd and the PerryScopes, the Internets, Stan Ridgeway Trio (not the guy from Wall of Voodoo - better!) and so many others!

But if you like other things, then by all means keep hanging out in Farmington. Good for you, pal.

: Hello Western Mainers! I was born, raised, and live in in Texas (for now, anyway!), but my girlfriend and I around coming up to Wilton (about 10 miles from Farmington, and about 40 from Lewiston) for her family's Christmas celebration. (Yes, I admit I hitched up with her partly because of her Western Maine pedigree.)

: When we were there this past Christmas, her mother took us to Leafy's for some rock and roll entertainment, but the only band playing was FishBait, a Phish tribute band that does covers of Phish's Halloween shows. They were good, but I'm more into the harder-rockin' stuff like TBTB (but without that egomaniac Bob Timmons). I'm sure by the time Christmas rolls around, they'll be headlining at Wembley Stadium ("across the pond," as they say), so I don't have my hopes up to see them during my short stay in town. Any other suggestions for places that have rock and roll of the grittier variety?
